Must-Have Monday: Not-So-Cheesy Knife Set

Share

I have been roaming around Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's and Crate & Barrel recently, registering for all the things I think I'm going to need for my future home.

Will I actually ever host a dinner party for 12 people?

Will I really ever serve a Martini or mix up a Cosmopolitan?

And is it even feasible I will ever have a need for fine china?

The answers are all... maybe...

But one think I KNOW I will do (since I currently do it) is have friends over and set out a cheese platter.  Because I love cheese. All types.  Brie, Gouda, Goat... I have really never found a type of cheese I don't like.

So when I stumbled on the Not-So-Cheesy Adorable Knife set on the quirky, yet oh-so-cool site of Delight.com, I didn't think twice.  I ran over to my wallet, ran back to my computer and purchased this product immediately.

Now I am anxiously awaiting the knife set that will turn me into the cheesiest hostess with the mostess in town!

Getting Weddy

Share

This past Saturday was my birthday, but really it was more like a chance for people to bestow wedding paraphernalia on me. Which was awesome - since I need all the help I can get.

My favorite bride-focused present was the Our Wedding Journal book by Elizabeth Lluch.  I love it!  It's not telling me to pick colors, think about seating assignments or register for a range of household gadgets.  It's just about... US.  Which, in the frenzy of planning, many of us brides-to-be push to the side.

It gives you spaces to fill in all the what's, where's, and when's of your entire relationship - from the time you met to the time you jet off to your honeymoon.

I've already purchased a few more to give as gifts to friends who are preparing to walk down the aisle. It's truly the perfect way to record all the important details of how got swept off your feet and landed in holy matrimony.

I have said "I DO" to this book!

Must-Have Monday: Cha Cha Pitcher

Share

Maybe it's the unseasonably warm weather, but for some reason I've been jones-ing for a cool pitcher to serve fun beverages.  Even if I'm just serving these drinks to myself.  So when I stumbled upon the Cha Cha Pitcher at Crate and Barrel, I felt I had met my summertime drink soul mate.

It has an awesome name, a sleek and modern look, and is described as "perfect for everything from sangria to lemonade to ice water."

Love Love Love!

The Bride and the Barcode

Share

I love Bed Bath and Beyond.  I mean, who doesn't love those 20% off coupons?! I'll even take them out of the communal garbage by the mailboxes in our apartment building if I see some lying there, discarded.  I have about 500 at this point.

But, while BBB usually provides me with a sense of calm, this past weekend it made me feel a little crazy. When we went to register, with our excel spreadsheet in hand (a list, we always have a list, formulated in excel) I felt confident.  Until we compared it to their list.  And were then given the tour of the store.

All of sudden, the aisles and aisles of cookware and kitchen appliances, seemed overwhelming.  Gun in hand, our wonderful registry consultant sent us on our way.  And the choices loomed in front of us.

Black Kitchen Aid Mixer or the Silver one? Artisan or Professional?

Dyson or Hoover?

13 piece set or 12 piece set?

Do we really need nesting bowls?  Will I ever use a steamer insert??

I wanted to shoot everything, hover the red light over the gleaming black and white barcode, but I was like a deer in headlights.  How are we supposed to know what we're going to need for our currently imaginary house?  How am I supposed to figure out a color scheme for our future kitchen?

Needless to say, my other half helped, but finally threw up his hands and said, I don't really care.

Which is how I ended up on the floor, in the above picture, registering for a HoMedics Chair Massager.  Its bar code beckoned me - the idea of endless relaxation from the comfort of my home all-too enticing - and I just... SCANNED!

My mother told me it was a ridiculous registry choice.

But I don't care.  Because I can see this massager fitting into any decor.

Must-Have Monday: Hunter Rain Boots

Share

If I could register for Hunter Rain Boots (in Navy) I would do it.  In a second.  I'm obsessed.  I NEED to have these - especially after the winter we've had in DC.  But Zappos AND Piperlime are sold out of my size.

Sigh.

Taming My Inner Bridezilla

Share

I hate bridal magazines, but I have a stack sitting on my calendar.

I despise shopping - but I head to different web sites to look at gowns and bridal party dresses.

I can't walk through a store now without thinking, "Oh, I totally need to register for that" even though, really, when am I going to ever use a Kitchen Aid Mixer? (but I really really want it!!!)

When I hear a song, I immediately start wondering if it would make a good first dance ballad.

And don't even get me started on the gym and bridal bootcamp workouts.

I'm good at taming these flare ups, these wedding thoughts that could, if I let them, take over my world.

One way to satisfy my bridal cravings... plop onto the couch and turn on "Say Yes to the Dress." All of a sudden, I don't feel so crazy.
